Scottish Braves Chilli Fiesta set to be the hottest ticket in town

Events are about to take a decidedly spicy turn as one of the most hotly anticipated events of the year returns to Scone Palace.

Following a highly successful inaugural event in 2013, which saw thousands of visitors gather in the grounds for two days of fiery fun, the Scottish Braves Chilli Fiesta will be returning to Scone Palace over the weekend of 20th – 21st September.

The fiesta, a celebration of all things 'chilli' including food, drink, horticulture and much more, will take place in a tented village on the south lawn.

Organised by Chilli Fest (UK), the fiesta promises to be a great day out for dedicated 'chilli-heads' and families alike, with stands from some of the best chilli traders in the UK, showcasing and selling everything from fresh curries, chilli chutneys and chocolate, to chilli ciders, chilli cocktails and cola with a kick!

The highlight each day will be an explosive 'Clash of the Titans' chilli-eating contest, when brave – or foolhardy – competitors (over 18s only!) will line up to eat 15 of the world's hottest chillies including Bullet, Rocket, Scotch Bonnet and the odd Naga.

Back by popular demand, Aunty Jee, probably the best known Indian Master Chef on the chilli festival scene, will be cooking up a storm with curries including Bullet, Pilly Pilly and her nationally-renowned, mouth-watering stuffed chilli peppers.

Jim Fairlie and Anne McGhee from Perthshire Farmers & Producers will be serving up a range of tasty, sizzling chilli burgers and spicy pies, all made from the freshest local farm produce, straight from the BBQ.

Throughout the day there'll be live salsa music, courtesy of 'Highland Grass', plus the Chilli Fest UK's Liquid Bar - dedicated to serving the best chilli cocktails including Chilli Mojitos, Chilli Shooters and Chilli Tequila beer.

As 'Strictly' takes to our screens once again, there'll also be a chance to pick up a few dance moves of your own, as local dance group Yiraje Tango turn up the heat with some seriously sexy tango lessons.

As well as sampling an exciting range of chilli products, festival-goers can pick up practical horticultural hints and tips from Scone's Head Gardener, Brian Cunningham, who will be on hand to share his own chilli-growing expertise at special 'drop-in' surgeries. A range of over 20 chilli seed types will also be available to purchase for those looking to try their hand at growing their own.

Children can enjoy their own chilli-related mayhem in a dedicated Kids Activity Zone, where they can hunt for chillis hidden in the Murray Star Maze, take part in chilli face-painting, and even acquire a chic glitter tattoo!
