Scottish Seabird Centre seeks Project Manager for National Marine Centre
September 2014
North Berwick's multi award-winning visitor attraction, the Scottish Seabird Centre, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to progress plans to extend the existing Centre to house the National Marine Centre.
The National Marine Centre will build on the success of the five star Seabird Centre, creating additional education and visitor facilities by sympathetically expanding the existing building. This will allow the charity to achieve more of its conservation and education objectives and further enhance facilities for both locals and visitors.
The Project Manager role is a newly created, temporary post that will ensure that the National Marine Centre is fully planned, funded, built, fitted-out and opened.
The successful applicant will prepare and implement an agreed 12-month project programme; work with potential project partners, funders and supporters; and ensure that all plans fit with the Centre's charitable objectives.
A central part of this new job will be to ensure that the charity plays an increasing role in highlighting the international importance of Scotland's outstanding marine environment and wildlife; as well as the need for Scotland's seas, coasts and marine wildlife, including seabirds, to be properly protected and looked after for future generations.
Tom Brock OBE, Chief Executive of the Scottish Seabird Centre, said: "It is a very exciting time at the Seabird Centre as we look forward to playing an increasing role in environmental education and conservation, as well as continuing to improve a wonderful facility for both visitors and the local community.
"Candidates must have extensive project management and fundraising skills, as well as relevant experience and qualifications. A proven track record in fundraising and project delivery is also essential. We are confident that an enthusiastic and dedicated candidate, who is the right fit for our committed team of staff, trustees and volunteers, will be working with us very soon."
